The first time Mary called Faith in Action she was feeling a little unsettled. She had an important medical appointment coming up quickly, but no way to get there.
"The woman from the home health agency who was working with me told me about this group that gave rides to doctor's offices," Mary said. "I had never heard of such a thing before, but she told me to give you all a try." One of our volunteers was able to get her to that very first appointment. "It went just fine," Mary said. "The service is easy to use and the volunteers are courteous. I hate to be a burden to anyone, but Faith in Action put me right at ease." We asked Mary what she would do about her appointments if she hadn't found Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley. "I've always been very independent," she told us. "It is hard for me to ask for help. I still drive some, but it's getting to the point where I don't go far. Getting to some of my appointments is just too difficult. I have to park too far away and walking that distance is too much. If I couldn't count on Faith in Action to get me there, I couldn't go," she said. "I'd have to cancel them. It sure is nice to know you're there." We're so glad you did find us, Mary. Getting you to your appointments safely is far from a burden; it's what we're here for. We're already looking forward to the next trip!
