Volunteer Fair Announced!

Updated: Aug 19, 2023

Did you know that National Senior Citizens Day falls on Monday, August 21st?

Here at Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley, we celebrate our older neighbors every day. Our mission is to support the independent living of older adults in the communities we serve by lending a helping hand, neighbor to neighbor.

Our organization currently supports 235 volunteers in service to more than 500 seniors in Kanawha and Putnam counties. Since 2015, Faith in Action volunteers have contributed more than 25,372 hours of service at a value benefit of $608,161 to the community, offering independence and dignity to those we are fortunate enough to serve.

We are not asking for money, but we do need your help to continue meeting this critical need. In recent months, the number of applicants requesting services from our programs has increased significantly. It is imperative that we add more volunteers to our program to meet the demand.

Toward that end, we invite you to join us on August 21st to celebrate Senior Citizens Day by learning more about our program and how you can engage as a volunteer. We will host multiple Volunteer Orientation Trainings (10am, 2pm (4 pm is FULL!) on that day and would love to have you in attendance at one of them.

Our volunteers enjoy working with our program because of the flexibility if affords and the variety of opportunities available. You sign up to assist only with requests you’re interested in, when it fits your schedule. And as anyone who volunteers with us will tell you, the impact of your helping hand is something you feel immediately, through the gratitude of those we serve.
