Gloria used to struggle to get to her medical appointments. "My husband would catch the bus with me because I cannot see in one of my eyes. I would try to schedule my appointments late in the day after his work ended. I'd also try to keep them spaced far apart so it would not be so hard on us. When I developed some additional health problems and more doctors were added, it became really difficult. Almost like a full-time job!"
One of her adult children who lives out of state started researching resources in the area that might be able to help and found Faith in Action. Gloria reached out, completed an application, and felt almost instant relief from the constant stress of worrying about how to make it to her scheduled appointments. "Finding this program has made it so much easier on me. I can relax my mind. I don’t have to worry about getting there; the peace of mind has been a real blessing."
"It’s so much more than a ride, though," Gloria is quick to add. "They keep in touch with me. They send me Birthday cards and remember me at Christmas. I didn’t expect this. I didn’t know all of this would come from just getting a ride to a doctor’s appointment. The experience has been wonderful for me."
